Who we are
Women of Note was formed several years ago as an all-women a capella choir.
It has evolved over the years, but remains a small and friendly group of about 20 or so women. We learn all our music by ear - we don't use a score - and we sing music from many different genres - modern, traditional, world, pop.
We have a wide repertoire of songs and enjoy singing at many different events, from the back of a trailer at a village fete to our own summer concerts.
We also enjoy getting together more informally. Like most choirs, we enjoy going to the pub after rehearsals and it doesn't take much to encourage us to have a party: birthdays, Christmas, summer... We also go away together on a regular basis to a quiet riverside retreat to relax, sing, walk and eat good food (prepared by our lovely caterers - no cooking!).
The more hardy among us also enjoy camping from time to time and some of us go along every year to the Natural Voice Camp, held in August, in Dorset. We also sing at Sing for Water, in London, to raise money for WaterAid, and we take part in the annual Street Choirs Festival, which this year will take place in Manchester.
We welcome all new members, so do come along and give us a try. We rehearse from 8pm-10pm on Tuesday evenings in Cambridge. See the Contact page to get in touch with us.
