2008 : Another busy year!
In January 2008, we held an informal afternoon concert, entitled Succar, Saps and Wine-o, and sang a selection of wonderful, little-known carols, arranged for women's voices by Scottish songwriter and arranger, Ali Burns, who worked with us to prepare the event.
In April, we sang in the church hall of the village of Linton, near Cambridge, to raise funds for a local community group, dedicated to supporting elderly people in the village.
We held a concert on Friday 16 May 2008, in Cambridge's Parkside Community College. It was a great evening of mixed songs and got an enthusiastic response from the audience.
In June, we sang at a very different event, Cambridge's annual Strawberry Fair, on Midsummer Common. It was great fun and our blend of women's voices seemed to go down well.
In July, some of us sang at Sing and Swim, held annually at the Jesus Green open air pool in Cambridge to raise money for WaterAid. The same month, we had a great time in Brighton, taking part in ChoirFest 2008, the annual celebration of community choir singing ( http://www.choirfest.org/ ).
We also sang at the annual garden party of the Cambridge University Library Group, which is taking place at the Ancient Indian and Iran Trust in Cambridge and in September, took part in Sing for Water in London. Sing for Water is a fundraising event and is part of the annual Thames Water Festival.
In November, we held a joint all-day workshop to share songs with the Hitchin All-Star Choir - a wonderful event. And in December we sang at the Mill Road Winter Fair.
